  1. If you’re a follower of Feng Shui, then you probably have a very clean and clear entryway. That’s because Feng Shui teaches that you must have an open pathway to your door in order to permit energy to flow freely and harmoniously within the home. The direction the door faces also determines its ideal color based on different types of energy. For example, a door that faces east is associated with wood elements and should be painted brown or green.
  2. Revolving doors typically have  “speed control” to prevent people from spinning the doors too fast. Normally, the revolving door is always closed so that wind and drafts cannot blow into the building, to efficiently minimize heating and air conditioning loads. That is why in New York, the experts from Buildings Department have created a law that states that revolving doors should rotate at a speed of maximum 15 rotations per minute. Anything faster than that is illegal.
  3. Europe’s oldest door might be more than 5,100 years old. The archaeologists from Zurich, Switzerland have recently excavated what is believed to be the oldest door in Europe. They have dated it and it has an age of approximately 5,100 years. 
  4. There are 1,514 doors in Buckingham Palace.
  5. It took over 1,000 people to build the capitol building in Dallas and when completed the building had 392 rooms, 924 windows and 404 doors.
  6. The world’s smallest door is located in the microhouse which was developed by French Scientists. The house measures just 20 micrometers across but has several stunningly accurate details, including a front door, windows and even a tiled roof.
  7. The earliest known locking mechanisms were discovered by archaeologists in the mid-19th century at the Palace of Khorsabad in modern day Iraq.
  8. French doors were originally used in the 17th century as windows, not doors.
