  1. Sill: The horizontal bottom part of the window frame, typically designed to direct water away from the window.
  2. Head: The top horizontal part of the window frame.
  3. Jamb: The vertical sides of the window frame.
  4. Mullion: A vertical or horizontal bar between window panes or sections.
  5. Muntin: A bar that divides the window into smaller panes of glass, often part of traditional or divided light windows.
  6. Casement: A type of window that is hinged on one side and swings outward.
  7. Sash: The frame that holds the glass panes and moves up and down or side to side.
  8. Frame: The structure that supports and holds the window sash. We use both vinyl and fiberglass frames at Conservation Construction which provide our customers with supreme functionality and durability over time. Our frames can be ordered in different colors to match any home’s aesthetic. We even provide black windows which are black inside and out!
  9. Glazing: The glass or other transparent material used in the window. At Conservation Construction we use 4 layers of Low-E coating which is virtually invisible on the glass, but gives you optimal protection against harsh UV rays
  10. Trim: The decorative or functional material surrounding the window, including the casing and any additional moldings.
