I know with my busy life it is hard to find time to do anything else but work, workout, grocery shop and do housework. I am always amazed at the amount people who can get more stuff like this done in a day. There are simply not enough hours in the day for me to get everything done that I want to have completed. I sometimes find myself overwhelmed at doing little extra things around the house that need to be done.

If you are like me and have very little time for your home improvement desires, don’t worry. We have some quick life hacks that can make your life a lot easier with little to no elbow grease. You can literally fix small things while you’re doing other house work, and these things can improve your mood and your home in the process.

Tip 1:

Is simple . . . Switch out your lights for brighter lights. Bright areas have been known to improve moods. By simply switching out dim or burnt out lights you will make your space more bright and inviting. You can also see things more clearly. Changing out your lights is super easy to do too. If you are cleaning the kitchen just grab some extra light bulbs and switch them out, it’ll only add about 5-10 minutes onto your cleaning time. With your mood lighter you might even be more inclined to do additional work in your house such as . . .

Tip 2:

Get a small mail holder and hang it near the front door. I don’t know about you, but before I got a small box to place all my mail I would set in on the counter and there it would sit until I had time to go through it all. I know as an adult i should sort through it more often, or probably just sort through it right when I get it, but sometimes I don’t. By Simply installing a little mail holder like this one below I saved the mail from getting on my counter. I had a place to put it that didn’t look dirty, and when I got enough mail I could sort through it all at once.

This costs less than 20$ and it’s easy to hang. It’ll take you less than 10 minutes. Also if you have one like I do there are slots to hang your keys so you don’t lose those either (before this I was constantly losing my keys).

Tip 3:

Buy an Iron Hanger from the store like the one below and stop from having your hanger fall on you.  When I was living at my last condo the iron would constantly fall over and then spring open. It was a loud mess–sometimes even happening in the middle of the night. Some of these iron hangers hang on the back of your door and they keep everything out of the way. It is a great investment and you can hang it while you’re doing a load of laundry. Super easy and simple–a real life changer.

Tip 4:

Adding some insulation to your attic can save you a ton of money on energy costs. This takes a bit longer than the rest of the tasks on this list, maybe an hour, but still takes less than most do-it-yourself projects out there. Just spread it down and watch your energy bill go down down down. You’ll also create more stable room temperatures in your house.

Tip 5:

Change out the door handles on your doors and cabinets. This might take a little bit more effort, but it could give your cabinets and doors a nice new functionality and beauty. Having new nobs can change the entire aesthetic of a home. Who knows you may even have knobs that are already falling off anyway. If so this idea is even better for your home! New handles on doors can add safety to your home. Before I switched out my door knobs they were very flimsy and felt like they could easily break off. Switching out these knobs takes less than 15 minutes. Again, adding safety to your home should always be a priority.
